As members of the climbing, skiing, mountaineering, and running community, the Level 8 Sales team embraces the value of cutting loose and pushing the limit. We promote innovative thinking, humor, and the consumption of good beer in good form. A typical day at the Level 8 home-base typically includes visits from friends and family, and at a minimum, the presence of a 4-legger. As athletic business people, we focus on healthy food and healthy habits in order to achieve and maintain peak performance at work and in the mountains.
While you will never see him rock-climbing in a race suit, there was a time when Dan Dixson rocked a race suit as he ski-raced his way through the University of Nevada, Reno. It's impressive, but don't let his degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, or his minor in English Literature fool you. Dan is a Sierra mountain-man through and through.
Born in Truckee, California and raised in Squaw Valley, climbing, skiing, and backcountry adventure is engrained in his DNA. Dan has lent only one year of himself to skiing in Japan where he happily absorbed and embraced their mountain culture.
You might expect that he would brag about his 14 years of experience as a rep, multiple sales awards, and amazing hair as his greatest attributes, but that's not the case. As the driving force of Level 8 Sales, Dan Dixson inspires his team with a smile, and lets his progressive actions and deep friendships throughout the adventure industry, speak for him. Dan continually pushes his genuine sales approach to the next level.
Today, fatherhood is Dan's dedicated adventure. To assume that his younger years were his most passionate would be the greatest of follies. Nothing motivates Dan to succeed more than seeing the smile of his 7 year-old son, atop Mt. Lassen. Dan's success means more climbs and more smiles.
Derek eats and breathes the outdoor lifestyle. There are not enough hours in the day or days in the week to get out on the snow, dirt, or rock.
Born and raised in the small town of Genoa, NV with the Eastern Sierras as his backyard playground. A passionate skier since the age of 3 he could almost always be found exploring Kirkwood and the surrounding backcountry during the winter and climbing or mtn. biking his way throughout the basin all summer.
While pursuing a marketing degree at the University of Nevada Reno Derek found himself working at a small specialty outdoor shop selling Climbing, kayaking, and skiing equipment. A "jack of all trades" Derek mastered everything at the retail level. As a buyer, manager, ski tech, kayak/surfboard repairman, electrician, or janitor there was no job he wasnít willing to do.
After 10 years in retail Derek jumped into the rep biz working for a few small ski brands during the winter months and wrenching at bike shops all summer. Joining the Level 8 team is a dream come true and he canít wait to share his passion and knowledge for gear with everyone he encounters along the way.
